The program is introduced with a short documentation about Schönberg's Pelleas et Melisande, based on a text by Claudio Abbado. Every musical theme relates to a special colour appearing on screen. What has been so remarkable about Abbado’s Mahler performances is that their impact has never been achieved at the expense of the multiple sensitivities, subtleties and extreme sophistication. Together with the world's leading youth orchestra – the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester (GMJO) – Abbado performs Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 and Schönberg’s Pelleas und Melisande, Op. 5. The Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester was founded in Vienna in 1986, by Abbado’s initiative. The orchestra's high level of artistic quality and its international success have moved important conductors and soloists to work with the ensemble. | |

He served as Music Director of the Oslo Philharmonic from 1979 to 2000, during which time he transformed the orchestra into a front-rank ensemble. Under his leadership, the orchestra toured extensively and became a favorite at major festivals worldwide. The Oslo Philharmonic was celebrated for its fresh, open sound and for Jansons’s passionate interpretations of works by Dmitri Shostakovich, Richard Strauss, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and Béla Bartók. In this episode of ‘In Rehearsal,’ Jansons guides the orchestra through the powerful Suite from Bartók’s pantomime ballet The Miraculous Mandarin, culminating in a performance at the Oslo Concert Hall. | |

In 2024, jazzahead! paid special attention to the jazz scene of the Netherlands and invited over forty jazz acts to perform over the course of three days. Among the acts presenting themselves at jazzahead! 2024 is seven-piece ensemble Mama Terra. Co-led by Glaswegian pianist-composer-producer Marco Cafolla and saxophonist Konrad Wiszniewski, the group offers a fresh and energetic interpretation of spiritual jazz. Mama Terra’s debut album ‘The Summoned’, featuring the ethereal vocals of Rachel Lightbody, “bursts with zeal and vigour”, according to MOJO. The lineup includes Marco Cafolla (piano, vocoder), Konrad Wiszniewski (tenor saxophone), Rachel Lightbody (vocals), Mikey Owers (trombone), Cameron Jay (flugelhorn), Doug Hough (drums), and Brodie Javier (double bass). | |

His drumming continues to be praised by critics and musicians to this day. Moon was voted the second-greatest drummer in history by Rolling Stone. By 1976, and particularly during production of The Kids Are Alright (film) and Who Are You (song), Moon’s deterioration grew. Moving back to London in 1978, he died on 7th of September aged 32, from an overdose of Clomethiazole, a drug intended to treat or prevent symptoms of alcohol withdrawal. | |
