Over the years, the scope widened, and orchestral concerts have long been an integral part of the festival. As part of the festival’s 2021 edition, maestro Daniel Harding leads the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in a wonderful concert program featuring Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D major, ‘Titan’. Mahler completed his first symphony in 1888. Originally a five-movement piece, the composer discarded the second movement ‘Blumine’ some years later, resulting in the final four-movement version we know today. This performance was recorded at Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence, Italy, in 2021. | |

Porter lent his vocal skills to gospel choirs across the country and a string of successful musicals before turning his talent to his own compositions. His rise since then has been meteoric. Today, the Seine Sessions revive the happy years of "jam sessions", while the cream of jazz, blues, gipsy and funk Parisian scenes occurs on the boards of the legendary restaurant and jazz club Le Réservoir. Valentin Albeșteanu, alături de Orchestra de Cameră a Filarmonicii „Râmnicu Vâlcea”, dirijată de Tiberiu Dragoș Oprea și de Taraful de Oraș, studiourile TVR se transformă într-un spațiu de concert conceput ca un film muzical, în care interpretarea live este pusă în valoare prin imagine și construcție narativă. Concertul propune un balans permanent între atunci și acum, între memorie si actualitate, între lumea de atunci și privirea noastră de azi.
Din veacuri de cântece fericite, din partituri vechi și din înregistrări de epocă, se recompune o evocare muzicală a perioadei interbelice, când viața orașului se desfășura între teatre, săli de concert, grădini de vară, cinematografe și restaurante selecte.
Bucurie și melancolie, zile și nopți laolaltă, cântecele Bucureștiului de altădată surprind cu simplitate o lume în care muzica era parte din cotidian. Era epoca melodiilor pline de farmec, a rafinamentului și a expresivității.
De la tangouri, valsuri, foxtrot-uri și swing-uri celebre, până la muzica clasică și de café-concert, spectacolul propune o incursiune coerentă într-un univers aproape uitat, reconstituit prin interpretare live și printr-o abordare vizuală cinematografică.
Și cine nu zâmbește invocând norocul prin cântecul „Coșarului”, cine ar îndrăzni să nu se lase cucerit ascultând declarația de dragoste „Habar n-ai tu”... , cine nu ar tresări visând la „Amapola”... și cine nu și-ar dărui și sufletul pentru aflarea ursitului în „Mi-am pus busuioc in păr”...
Melodii compuse de Ion Vasilescu, Nicolae Kirculescu, Ionel Fernic, Henry Mălineanu, Elly Roman, Gherase Dendrino, alături de partituri semnate de Grigoraș Dinicu, Georges Boulanger și Fritz Kreisler, redau atmosfera sonoră a Bucureștiului interbelic.

Ne întoarcem asumat la nostalgie, cu un personaj rock prin definiție: Mihai CROCO Manea. Nu este doar un povestitor al lucrurilor trăite, ci și un colecționar împătimit de fapte scenice profesioniste.
Punem un semn de carte la Woodstock, acolo unde s-a născut “Psychedelia reflectată în rockumentare”. Regizorul Tudor Chirilă relatează cinematic epoca răzvrătiților prin rock.

The story of Fleetwood Mac is one of two halves. The first half began within the British blues scene of the late 1960s, where the band’s founder, Peter Green, honed his talent. Peter Green asked fellow Bluesbreakers John McVie and Mick Fleetwood to form a new band after they successfully collaborated in the studio on an instrumental with Jeremy Spencer and Bob Brunning completing the line-up. They took on the new name of Fleetwood Mac. The band had success in the UK with their first two albums and in 1968, with the addition of guitarist, Danny Kirwan, they finally achieved their first number one single, Albatross. However, Fleetwood Mac’s third album, They Play On, would be Peter Green’s last with the band, Without Peter Green, Danny Kirwan would take on the lead role within the group In 1970, Christine McVie, the wife of John McVie was yet another addition, after having provided backing vocals and album artwork for the new line-up.
Yet more changes came to the band’s line-up with Kirwan sadly having to leave due to problems with alcoholism, Songwriter Bob Welch replaced him, but then departed shortly after. Fleetwood Mac with the line-up of Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and John and Christine McVie entered its second chapter. In 1975 they released what would ironically be their second self-titled album, which would top the US Billboard chart and featured the hit single Rhiannon, written by Stevie Nicks But as the album reached number one in the US and began shifting units of over five million, the band’s personal lives were becoming strained. In 1977 the band released Rumours.
The lyrics of the songs written by each member of the band exposed the personal turmoil that existed within the group Rumours has, to date, sold over 45 million copies worldwide, making it one of the biggest selling albums of all time. Influenced by new wave and punk, Buckingham convinced the band to go for a more experimental approach for the highly-anticipated follow-up album, Tusk. Alfredo is ignorant of his father's torment and, thinking that Violetta has used him, he becomes furious. In the end, he understands that Violetta has abandoned him to be free, but it is too late. Hosted in Bremen, Germany, jazzahead! brings together musicians, bookers, agents, organizers, jazz experts, and music enthusiasts. Due to COVID-19, only half of the scheduled performances of the 2021 edition were actually recorded in Bremen. The other performances were captured by the artists themselves on various locations of their own choosing. Among the performing artists is American jazz pianist, composer and Steinway artist Connie Han. She has been compared to legendary jazz pianists McCoy Tyner and Hank Jones, although her musical direction is associated with the 'Young Lions'-revolution of the late 1980s, which was spearheaded by the likes of the Marsalis Brothers, keyboardist Kenny Kirkland, and drummer Jeff “Tain” Watts.
