With the four albums they released, they inspired a whole new generation of musicians. formed The Smiths. A name specifically chosen for being ordinary. Signing to indie label, Rough Trade, the new group released their first single, 'Hand in Glove' in May 1983. The Smiths disbanded upon the release of their final album, 'Strangeways, Here We Come'. Birmingham in the late 1960s was an industrial city, packed with music groups. At its height, the New Musical Express had reported 500 on its bustling circuit and from two of these groups, Black Sabbath was formed.
The Beatles would be a key influence for Ozzy, but bassist Geezer Butler also shaped Ozzy’s work, through his lyrics After signing to Vertigo Records in 1970, the four piece used their distinctive sound to full effect for their self-titled debut album, Black Sabbath. Black Sabbath became a commercial success, entering the UK top 10 and the US charts. In it’s first year it sold one million copies.
Keen to build on the success, the band entered the studio just four months after releasing their debut. The title track, Paranoid, would lead the new album.

Guns N' Roses shocked and awed upon their arrival on the 80s rock scene. Their notoriety and musicianship bred sales of 150 million records, making them one of the world’s biggest rock bands of all time. With his friend, Izzy Stradlin, Axl entered the Los Angeles music scene as the lead singer of rock band Hollywood Rose and from playing the Hollywood circuit, Guns N' Roses would soon emerge Signed to Geffen Records for a $75,000 advance, the band entered the studio to work on their debut, Appetite For Destruction Bassist Duff McKagan brought a riff to the recording studio and within three hours the band completed Welcome to the Jungle. The song would bring the group to the world’s attention. After Welcome to the Jungle became an unexpected MTV hit, follow-up single Sweet Child of Mine was placed on heavy rotation on US radio play-lists.
