Abba are one of Sweden’s biggest exports and the world’s biggest pop act. With sales estimated at 400 million, as a group they are second only the Beatles. However, the pop music that will be remembered for generations to come grew out of a very different sound. Abba entered the Eurovision heats. They succeeded and performed the song Waterloo in the 1974 contest. The band entered superstar status with the 1976 release of their first greatest hits. The token new song on the record was Fernando. It remains Abba’s biggest-selling single to date, with sales of 10 million copies. The late 1970s was a period of unstoppable success for Abba. The 1976 album Arrival, showcased the finely-honed skill of pop song-writing and its lead single, Dancing Queen, was a prime example of that. In a career of four turbulent decades of excesses and highs, Aerosmith became the biggest selling American rock band of all time. The ‘Bad Boys’ came together in 1970 in Boston, Massachusetts. Aerosmith’s third release, ‘Toys in the Attic’ made them international stars. Lead single,’Sweet Emotion’ became their first top 40 hit. In 1987 Aerosmith released their biggest selling album in over a decade, ‘Permanent Vacation’. The ‘Nine Lives’ tour was troubled, but in 1998 Aerosmith’s fortunes would change once again.
Released as part of the soundtrack to the film, ‘Armageddon’, ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ would become the biggest single of their career. In 2012 Aerosmith released the single, ‘Legendary Child’. It had been eight years since they had produced new material but along with the track came the album, ‘Music from another Dimension’.
